When Cameron Resuta asked Courtney Law to join him for a bible study, they were both going through difficult times in their lives, and it was a relief to find a friendship in each other. That friendship quickly evolved, despite the nearly five hours’ distance that separated them. Before they knew it, they were texting, FaceTiming, and calling each other whenever one of them could find a spare moment. When taking things to the next level couldn’t wait a second longer, Courtney surprised Cameron in Morgantown for their first date, and shortly after, they headed to Fayetteville for their second. It was there that the first “I love you’s” were exchanged, and the rest—well, you know what they say.

holiday magic

Courtney loves Christmas, and everybody loves Dolly Parton. So Dollywood, all lit up in its festive December lights, was the perfect spot for a proposal. Courtney knew it was coming eventually, but she had no idea when Cameron would choose to pop the question. “I kind of thought maybe on that trip, but had no idea,” she says. “He acted a little weird that day.”

“I was carrying it around!” Cameron responds with a laugh, referencing the ring he was holding secretly in his pocket. “I was excited—nervous, obviously—about proposing, but also I didn’t want to lose it on one of the rides.”

As it turns out, he was formulating the plan in real time. “I was definitely scoping out the entire park to find a spot that obviously was very photo-friendly and would look good,” Cameron says. “And also just trying to get away from the crowd a little bit. The 50-foot Christmas tree was just perfect, and looking back, I know Courtney really, really loved it. It was definitely her kind of thing.”

It’s clear when Courtney recounts the moment that he’s right. “We were right in front of the Christmas tree, and he sat me down and read something he had written for me,” she says, her voice filled with joy. “There was a photographer there who wasn’t planned, and he took our picture, so it was really cool.”

the stars aligned

Finding a venue in 2022 was hectic, with so many weddings that had been postponed due to the pandemic filling many of the hottest spots. But in a stroke of kindness and luck, a family friend offered their venue, HoneyBee Hills. The venue hadn’t initially planned on having a Labor Day weekend wedding, but for Courtney and Cameron, they made an exception. Once the venue was decided, they were off to the races. There were a few minor inconveniences—a late dress delivery, a groomsman suit mix-up or two—but with the help of their vendors, their loved ones, and the faith that had brought them together in the first place, they made it to the big day.

The morning of the wedding, they were both ready. Courtney’s bridesmaids took a moment to gather around her as she prepared to walk down the aisle, placing their hands along her arms and shoulders as they bowed their heads in prayer in an emotional moment shared between dear friends. “I felt really calm,” Courtney says. “I was so nervous the night before at the rehearsal, and I was like, ‘I cannot be this nervous tomorrow.’ So I’m really glad that, when it came the day of, I was just ready to see all the plans come to life.” Cameron felt the same, noting that he spent time praying in preparation for the ceremony. “I’m one to get a little bit overwhelmed and maybe frazzled a tiny bit,” he says, “just given that it’s a very big day and you want everything to go as planned. But I just had so much peace going into it.”

Amidst traditional vows and a gorgeous backdrop of a cross hand-built from wood from the family farm, the couple had a ring-warming ceremony that brought them, their spirituality, and their community together even more. “They played one of our favorite worship songs, and every single one of our guests passed our rings through the crowd and warmed them,” Courtney says. “They prayed over them, or gave a simple well wish, or literally just passed them through. It touched every single person’s hands that were at our wedding, and that was important to us.” Cameron was wowed when his bride came down the aisle. “You can’t really describe it,” he says. “I mean, it was beautiful. Amazing. I just knew that she was taking that final walk to meet me, and then we were going to walk off together.”

Private vows, portraits, and a reception full of dancing followed the ceremony. Cherry On Top Ice Cream provided a sweet treat for guests as they mingled. Many photos were taken and memories made as the newlyweds floated around the room, never far from one another for long. Grandparents, friends, and neighbors who may never have crossed paths before all shared the same space in celebration of the new couple. “I remember somebody telling me that that’s the only time in your life that literally everyone you love will be in the same place,” Courtney says. One thing is for sure: They made the most of it.
