First Responders’ Love

Emily and Corey grew up 30 minutes apart—she in Hedgesville and he in nearby Shenandoah Junction. Despite their close proximity, the two didn’t meet until 2021 when they were both working in EMS. They were engaged just over a year later.

The couple planned for a fall outdoor wedding, incorporating the majesty of West Virginia’s mountains in October as an extra element of beauty in their special day. Emily stunned in a strapless sheath gown with a corseted bust and intricate lace detailing, paired with simple pearl accessories.

The lovebirds climbed over rocks and foliage to make it down to the base of Elakala Falls with their officiant, exchanging vows over the roar of the water as friends and family watched fondly from above, spread along the overlook bridge.

Warm, rustic tones and textures were the focus for these nuptials. The bridesmaids wore lovely shades of orange, while the groomsmen donned navy suits with complementary orange accents. Florals were boho-inspired, with soft touches of cream, orange, and blue, pampas grass and eucalyptus bringing texture and shape to the arrangements.

The reception got started as the sun began to set, casting a warm glow over the proceedings. Guests mingled and enjoyed an impressive charcuterie display and live music, moving between the indoor and outdoor spaces while the couple prepared their reception outfits.

After dances and dinner and cake and speeches and all of the other traditions that come with tying the knot, Emily and Corey hit the dance floor to celebrate with loved ones and dance the evening away. The night drew to a close with many smiles and well wishes for the happy couple. As Jefferson County residents, they have returned to daily life as Firefighter EMTs, serving the community they love.
