It Was the Most Unforgettable New Year’s Eve for This Morgantown Couple

Meredith, a Charleston native, was working as a registered dietitian at CAMC Women and Children’s Hospital when she met Joe. He was completing his required rotations for his degree at West Virginia University Medical School. Their engagement came two years later on the most romantic day of the year: Valentine’s Day. Meredith wasn’t expecting a proposal just then. Why? Joe has recently undergone surgery on his Achilles tendon, so a boot and crutches would make getting down on one knee a bit more difficult. However, Joe found a way to do so, and he asked Meredith to be his wife.

The couple tied the knot (sans boot) on New Year’s Eve. Night had just fallen, allowing the various candles and lights to cast a soft glow over the ceremony. Meredith wore a beaded Art Deco–style dress fitted perfectly to her form with an embellished tulle cape train flowing gently behind her. The groom wore a traditional black tie suit. Live music led the reception into the new year as live footage of the Times Square festivities played. When the clock struck midnight, this fairy tale ended a bit differently. Rather than a rushed exit, the couple celebrated new beginnings as balloons were released from the ceiling. Meredith and Joe honeymooned on Anna Maria Island before returning to Morgantown. Following their passions, Meredith works as a registered dietitian for the Monongalia County Health Department and Joe works as a physician specializing in family medicine at WVU Medicine.
