Stunning Snowshoe Wedding

Middle school crushes led to high school dating and, ultimately, to wedding vows exchanged between Kristen and Cody in scenic Snowshoe. They grew up in Hurricane and dated for 10 years before Cody decided the time was right. During a vacation at Snowshoe, he got down on one knee and asked one of the most important questions of his life. Kristen offered an emphatic “Yes!”

They chose the Corduroy Inn and Lodge as the setting for their big day. The ceremony and reception happened in the ballroom, with sunshine beaming in its picture windows and mountain views as far as the eye could see. Escorted by her father, the bride wore a shimmery Maggie Sottero gown with lace motifs over glitter textured tulle. She carried a fresh floral bouquet hand-tied with a piece of her mother’s wedding dress. Cody, wearing a classic black tuxedo, met her at the altar, where the two exchanged personal vows—one of their favorite moments of the day. They joined guests after the ceremony for a reception, a full meal, and a night of dancing.

Their first dance as husband and wife was to Train’s “Marry Me,” the song Cody had used in the background of his romantic proposal months before. There were toasts, an open bar, and traditional bouquet and garter tosses. The newlyweds carved a multi-flavored, four-tiered wedding cake decorated with white icing and lily of the valley. A groom’s cake featured Darth Vader from Star Wars. Guests received welcome bags filled with snacks, water, and a personalized skeleton key bottle opener. Following the wedding, the couple departed on a honeymoon to Sandals Resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. They reside in Huntington, where Kristen is a medical student at Marshall University and Cody is a nursing student at Saint Mary’s School of Nursing.
