Our 2011 cover couple document their growing family at the beloved spot that graced our cover 12 years ago
When photographer Michelle Waters captured this image of Bill and Angie Schlueter after their Morgantown nuptials, little did they know that the photograph would be selected as the much-coveted cover of our 2011 issue of WV Weddings. Much has happened in the 12 years they’ve been married but, when they visit Morgantown, they always come back to that ivy wall, which happens to be the back wall of what was once known as Bent Willey’s. Angie says, “Just like we’ve evolved over time, that ivy wall has, too. It turned brown, then green again, and now the ivy is gone, and the doorway leads to a bar called The Hideaway.” Recently, they returned with their growing family. “As the four of us squeezed in that small doorway yesterday, my daughter said, “Mom look up!’ Sure enough, that ivy is still hanging on in that small doorway ceiling. Every time I see an ivy wall, I smile thinking back to this beautiful moment and photo—and how lucky and beyond blessed I am to have these three as my family.”
