When Tristan Lucky was ready to propose to Jessica Gutshall, he organized a “photo shoot” at a local restaurant. She was utterly surprised to walk into a private room decorated with candles and rose petals. As their song played in the background, Tristan, in a tuxedo, got on one knee to propose. Family came out of hiding, and the group celebrated with cupcakes.
For the couple’s big day, Wilderness Lodge in their hometown of Summersville was decorated with handcrafted benches and wine barrels, and arriving guests were greeted by violin music. The bride was escorted down the aisle by her father in an A-line ball gown with lots of sparkle and glitter carrying flowers in hues of blush and peach.
The traditional Christian ceremony with personal vows included an unusual unity ceremony: As friends sang “The Blessing” and played the piano, the bride and groom poured multiple colors of chipped glass together to later be blown into a one-of-a-kind glass sculpture.
After a cocktail hour, the bride and groom shared their first dance to “Beautiful Crazy” by Luke Combs, then the bride and her father danced to “Diamonds and Daughters” and the groom and his mother danced to “These Are The Days.”
Guests enjoyed a meal of steak or chicken, baked potatoes, green beans, salad, and rolls, followed by a cookie table and three cakes, each one covered in white frosting and flowers. The party continued with toasts, speeches, a bouquet toss, a garter toss, and dancing as well as a photo booth and a flower bar for making take-home bouquets.
As the celebration drew to a close, the guests created a sparkler exit for the bride and groom. The newlyweds honeymooned at Sandals Resort in Nassau, Bahamas, and returned home to Summersville feeling lucky to be Mr. and Mrs. Lucky.
