Payton Hefner and Seth Friel first crossed paths at Rockbridge YoungLife Camp in Virginia during the summer of 2016, sparking a romance that lasted through high school, college, and beyond. At Snowshoe in 2023, Seth dropped to one knee, with Shavers Lake in full fall color as backdrop, and asked Payton to be his wife.

The Bridgeport natives chose Stone House Lavender for their big day. The couple exchanged private vows during a quiet first touch, reflecting on the journey that had brought them to this day. Storm clouds gave way to sunlight as the bride, escorted by her father, walked down the aisle to “Turning Page” by Sleeping at Last. P

ayton was elegant in a strapless grand satin ivory gown with a dramatic overskirt by Essence of Australia. Her bridesmaids attended her in black chiffon gowns. Seth wore a classic black tuxedo with diamond white accents, and groomsmen matched him in formal black. The couple exchanged rings and braided the Cord of Three Strands, symbolizing their unity with God. Festive decor with white peonies, roses, hydrangeas, ranunculus, and eucalyptus greeted guests at the reception.

Following the newlyweds’ first dance to “Take Forever” by Cooper Alan, Payton and her dad danced to Riley Roth’s “Give Me Away,” and Seth and his mom danced to “Forever My Home” by Jake Ryan. Guests enjoyed dinner and heartfelt speeches and toasts.

Instead of a traditional cake cutting, Payton and Seth served a cookie and cupcake bar, including homemade Italian favorites contributed by family and friends, plus a popcorn bar built by the bride’s grandfather in honor of the groom’s favorite snack.

Dancing continued with a spirited Italian Money Dance and concluded with “Take Me Home, Country Roads” as guests circled the newlyweds in song. Following a honeymoon at Sandals Grande Antigua, Payton and Seth have returned to begin married life in Bridgeport.
