The Perfect Pair

Megan and Cullen met through mutual friends when the pair were attending West Virginia Wesleyan College in 2014. As graduation approached, Megan accompanied Cullen to a senior portrait session with his family at Cooper’s Rock State Forest. The weather didn’t cooperate, so the photoshoot was moved at the last minute to Miller’s Greenhouse in Smithfield, Pennsylvania, the groom’s hometown. After a few pictures were snapped, Cullen got down on one knee and proposed.

Many more pictures were taken that day, and the couple began planning their summer wedding. They chose the Pete Dye Golf Club in Bridgeport as the venue for both the ceremony and the reception. It was a convenient location for relatives to come south from Smithfield and north from the bride’s hometown of Buckhannon.

For her wedding, the bride wore a strapless dress with a crystal-encrusted bodice and ball gown skirt. She wore her mother’s veil and carried a bouquet of white hydrangeas, light pink roses, pink peonies, white spray roses, baby’s breath, and greenery. She was escorted to the altar by her father as “Simple Gifts” was played on the bagpipes.

The couple exchanged traditional vows and tied a fisherman’s knot for their unity ceremony. They joined family and friends at a reception, which featured the traditional money dance, garter and bouquet tosses, and special dances with the couple and their parents. Guests were treated to a three-tiered white wedding cake with white icing and a traditional cookie table. The couple collected Polaroid pictures from the evening and compiled them as their guest book.

They ventured to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, for their honeymoon before returning home to Fairmont, where Megan works as a middle school teacher and Cullen as an engineer.
